We had our last SGM of the quarter today. Audrey demoed her new UI code to Jay and the teaching team, and Jay showed us his progress on the music player. Our big focus is going to be making a big push for the final two weeks of the quarter. We had spent a couple weeks getting up to speed on Android development, something none of us was very familiar with. However, putting in that initial time to learn Android is going to pay off big time for our progress on coding. Now that we're all comfortable with Android, we have finally been able to get some real progress done coding!
Our short-term goal is to prepare for our software demo on Thursday. Currently, we have Jay's music player and Audrey's UI with hard-coded data. Our hope is that before our demo Thursday, we can integrate these two to have a working prototype. In addition, we brainstormed some ideas for how we will present our product on Thursday. We would like to role-play a situation of friends riding in a car together and having to go through the hassle of disconnecting and reconnecting individual phones to switch music, and then show a new scenario of how our app will make collaborative music listening so much easier. Stay tuned to hear what we end up doing for our presentation!
Other exciting news: our Android phones finally arrived! Audrey already had a Nexus 7 tablet, so we got 2 Google phones for Jay and Harrison. Using the Android emulator to test code has been really slow, so being able to use a real device will be a big benefit.
Finally, we spoke with Jay and the TTeam about the possibility of adding some web component to our project, which Harrison, a web developer powerhouse, could tackle really well. Harrison had to miss our meeting today because he had an on-site interview with Microsoft (so exciting!), but more to come on that front when he gets back.
We're looking forward to getting prepared for our software demo, as well as powering through these next 2 weeks and preparing for our trip to Germany!
